BP
LoF Seismic Source System
2007
As
the largest partner in, and operator of the Azerbaijan International Oil
Company (AIOC), BP is responsible for the CHIRAG AZERI RESERVOIR SEISMIC
PROJECT (CARSP) implementation.
BP
selected WGP Projects Ltd. to coordinate the procurement and integration
of its LoF (Life of Field) Modular Seismic Source system for use in the
Caspian Sea. WGP coordinated the procurement of the ISO Containerised
Compressor /Gun Handling /Winch modules, assisted in the design detail
as well as taking responsibility for the integration of the modules before
installation on the acquisition vessel. The manufacture and delivery was
completed at the end of the third quarter of 2006 followed immediately
by testing and commissioning of all systems, moving on to cable deployment
and data acquisition operations. WGP personnel were used for both deployment
and recovery of the sea bed cables and the operation of the source array
and associated equipment. WGP demobilised the vessel and is currently
(September 2007) enhancing the operational performance in the light of
12 months activities and experience. The vessel will be re-mobilised in
Q4 2007 to restart operations that are planned to operate continuously
until Q3 2008.
Marine
Trial of the MTEM Marine Electro-Magnetic Data Acquisition System
2005
WGP Projects has been contracted by MTEM to assist in the first sea trials
of its marine electro-magnetic data acquisition system. WGP has worked
closely with the MTEM technical personnel to plan and deliver a safe and
efficient trial of the new system. The project highlights WGP’s
long experience of assisting clients in proving new equipment and survey
techniques in an experimental environment.
R/V Professor Kurentsov Seismic Upgrade
2005
WGP was contracted by Marine Arctic Geological Expedition (MAGE) to assist
in the preparation of the MAGE survey vessel Professor Kurentsov for a
challenging contract working for ONGC in India. WGP installed a variety
of newly purchased and rented seismic equipment. This is the first time
that the Russian Bottomfish ™ marine seismic data acquisition system
and streamer has been used outside of Russia. This means that a variety
of interfacing problems have to be solved in order to make it work with
the new equipment. Kurentsov will leave for India at the end of the second
week in November.
Bottomfish
TM Marine Seismic Data Acquisition System Tests 2005
WGP was commissioned by the manufacturers of this new system – SI
Technology based in Gelendzhik, on the Russian Black Sea coast –
to undertake tests of the streamer sensitivity. This work has been done
at the Teledyne facility in Gloucester. The Bottomfish system has been
used in Russia but is new to the international industry, so SI were keen
to have the accuracy of the streamer validated before the beginning of
the MAGE project in India later this year. WGP were the obvious choice
to supervise this task as we were actively involved in assisting MAGE
prepare for the contract in India.
Ocean
Flower LoFs 2004
WGP successfully completed the installation and commissioning of the 4D/4C
air gun system onboard the BP chartered vessel "Ocean Flower".
The work included a containerised compressor and containerised gun umbilical
winches.
A
mobile array frame was designed and built containing the Bolt Annular
Part Gun array and modular floatation system. WGP also provided operational
support to the vessel whilst it was being taken over by BP Norway.
